Amanda has been swimming for as long as she can remember and she has real passion for swimming, from the age of 10-16 she swam competitively for a club and got up to a regional level.
Her biggest achievement during her time swimming was a Gold medal for 50m Butterfly when she was representing her club at the county competition at the age of 14.
Amanda likes the Swimming nature programme as its very hands on and the classes are small so therefore you can spend more time with each child and make the lessons more enjoyable for the children.
She really enjoys teaching all ages for so many different reasons but one of the reasons she enjoys teaching the younger ages is because she can make the lessons so much fun and she can see how much they enjoy it. Also, she thinks that when you’ve been teaching them from their first lesson seeing the progress they make is so enjoyable to see. Then from penguin level and above, she thinks it is very fun to teach the children about all the correct techniques of the strokes and about the starts and turns. But as her favourite stroke used to be butterfly that is always a fun stroke to teach for Amanda.
Amanda chose to become a swimming teacher for swimming nature because she saw the way the teachers taught the lessons as she used to be a lifeguard at the Lensbury and she really enjoyed watching and as she really enjoyed swimming Amanda thought that she would like to become a teacher and ever since then she has really enjoyed it.
