Mathew has been swimming since he was six weeks old in his home town in Zimbabwe. His passion for swimming brought him to become a swimming teacher in 2010, and he now holds a Level 2 UK swim teaching qualification.
His grandmother is part of the RLSS back home in Zimbabwe, and that is undoubtedly why he loves swimming and became a coach. As a child, he spent many Holidays out on courses with her granny, helping her set up and being an extra body where needed. At the time, it was just fun for him; however, as he has gotten older, he understood this was laying the foundation for his career. He would love to coach at an elite level one day; however, his main goal is to help people find or feel the same love for the water he feels.
Mathew loves that at Swimming Nature, teachers are in the water and hands-on, helping students, which fits very naturally with his methods and the methodology of teaching without floats, which he finds intriguing.
He enjoys the technical work that higher levels & adults require. However, he is very playful and energetic on the poolside, which works well with younger swimmers & beginners, so he is happy with whoever he is teaching.
Mathew is calm and relaxed from swimming, occasionally indulging in sports with friends, like football and tennis squash. However, he enjoys being outside, camping in the wild, the most; if that’s not possible, He will probably sit inside with a cup of tea, writing/producing music.
